Guest post by the amazing Jacqui Holland, actress turned metaphysicist
Jacqui was successful in the Entertainment Industry for many years, acting in popular sitcoms like Desperate Housewives, Suburgatory, How I Met Your Mother and Workaholics - and even opposite Kate Hudson in the movie My Best Friend’s Girl.
After spending many years in Hollywood, her soul was having trouble handling the lack of authenticity. Although she loved acting more than anything, it was not an environment that she wanted to submit herself to anymore. One day, half naked covered in blood and freezing on set, Jacqui saw a vision of a hand come down and outstretch itself towards her. She realised it was her own hand, and that she had the power to change her own life...
Jacqui is now a licensed Master Hypnotherapist, Master NLP Practitioner, a renowned speaker, a dating and success coach, and the creator of Prosperiti Yoga.
Hello, I don't normally write for other people's blogs but when I saw how much of a true inspiration she is, I knew Melinda is proof that we can transition into the person we aspire to be. Thank you, Melinda for inviting me to share this lovely space with you. Since we share similar stories, there was no question I was happy to share my thoughts on the art of transition.
First off, my name is Jacqui Holland, you may recognize me as the funny stripper in "My Best Friend's Girl, the porn star from "Workaholics," the drunken sorority girl from "Desperate Housewives," or the web cam girl from "True Detective."
When I first moved to LA my dream was to be a Hollywood Starlet. As a teen, my role models were Pam Anderson, Carmen Electra and Jenny McCarthy. I wanted to be the sexy blonde bombshell. I loved taking sexy pictures in bikinis and lingerie. My look, my attitude and my overall persona got me type cast in the not-so-bright bimbo roles. Keep in mind you do have to have some brains to play dumb.
That was a very specific chapter in my life, but I am now at a point where I'd prefer if people knew me for something other than being half naked. I'm not going to say it's easy. A quick Google search and it's one lingerie pic after another. Truth is, we all have our journeys and I have no regret for any of my choices. The past does not define us. It shapes us into the person we are today.
I wanted to write this blog to anyone out there who is going through a shift in their lives. It's not always easy, but it's a huge step toward becoming the person we want to be.
It's funny, sometimes the Universe will shift us in a certain direction and give us no option but to change. At that point you simply have to embrace the transition and evolve. I am now four and a half months pregnant with my first child. It's scary and new but it's clear to me that this is what the Universe or God wanted. For the past two years I have been building up a consistent practice as a Spiritual Advisor, Master Hypnotherapist and Relationship Coach. I have also been completing my Doctorate in Metaphysics and writing my first book. This transition is giving me no choice but to hang up the bikini and truly focus 100% on being of service to others and helping people.
I think that's how the Universe works sometimes. There are moments when we have no choice but to listen. I wrote this blog to reach anyone else going through their own transition: You got this! Sometimes we just have to listen to the Universe and it will help propel us along the path we need to be on.
